Our Historical Society led the way during this year’s Whiskey Flats Parade. ..
The weather newscasters were all wrong. It didn’t rain at all on our parade.
On that Saturday morning, our Historical Society and award winning Graham truck led the parade with Ron Anderson at the helm and Rod Middleworth , past president, riding shot gun. Several more past presidents were also riding on the truck and hanging on for dear life. They were Vicki Middleworth, Charles Topping, Chet Rock, and Tom McKinney. Other riders were Chris Burdge, Barbara Tucker, and Charlann Gregory.
We were the Grand Marshall and what an honor it was! Our Society was presented with a beautiful plaque recognizing its 50 years of service to the community. You can see the plaque at the museum. It is real nice.
Also, Erie and JoAnne Johnson and the many beautiful cars of the Bakersfield Model A Club were right behind us during the parade. Their club chauffeured any docents or members from our society who wished to ride along. It was a fun and exciting day for us, one to be remembered. Our Historical Society looked real sharp in the parade. It makes you even more proud to be part of our award winning Historical Society.
