The Kern River Valley Historical Society has been in operation for over 40 years. Our mission is to preserve and communicate the rich and colorful history of this region. To achieve these goals we have established the Kern Valley Museum in downtown Kernville next to the Post Office.

Featured in the Art Gallery: The Walker Art Collection

During the month of March, the Museum Gallery will continue to feature the art collection of Ardis and Gayle Walker.

Over the years, the Walkers collected an interesting assortment of art ranging from oil paintings to woodcut prints, to lithographs, to watercolors and beyond. They assisted many “starving artists.”

Please come see this collection. This is the first time it is publicly displayed.

The History of Our Historical Society. As we celebrate our 50th anniversary,...

we need to celebrate our own history. Our curator, Dianna Anderson, will talk about how the society has grown from a handful of charter members to a large and vibrant society with a top-notch museum and research facility.

We have much to be proud of and our growth has been steady. One of the things that sets us apart from other facilities is the level of community support that we receive. The other is the variety of artifacts that largely come from right here in the Valley!

So come and hear about our society from its infancy to today.

Tuesday, March 28th at the Senior Center in Isabella, 7:00 PM

Bring your family and friends.
