The Kern River Valley Historical Society has been in operation for over 40 years. Our mission is to preserve and communicate the rich and colorful history of this region. To achieve these goals we have established the Kern Valley Museum in downtown Kernville next to the Post Office.

Recap of the March Trip

We toured the newly acquired 189.26 acre Hot Springs Valley Wetlands Preserve...

There was a great turnout with about 30 people attending the presentation by Bob Barnes and Bruce Vegter on behalf of the Kern River Valley Heritage Foundation.

It was a beautiful day! The presentation was followed by a short walk to the edge of the wetlands portion of the property.

Keep an eye out for the Mariposa Lily when it starts blooming in May. Hopefully we can go back again. The Preserve is a wonderful addition to our beautiful Kern River Valley!
