Message from the Pres
The Kern River Valley Historical Society has been in operation for over 40 years. Our mission is to preserve and communicate the rich and colorful history of this region. To achieve these goals we have established the Kern Valley Museum in downtown Kernville next to the Post Office.

Message from the Pres

Volunteers make our historical society possible. We needed an...

assistant curator at the museum and Roy Fluhart stepped up. Our new annex also needed an assistant curator and Gene Verbeet said he’ll do it.

Through the efforts of many volunteers, we are now approaching 2000 Walker collection books in our data base that researchers from anywhere can find and come to our annex to do research.

Eddi Looy and Martha Allington have been inputting these books almost every day. Charl Ann Gregory has been cleaning and inventorying almost the entire Walker art collection.

If you haven’t yet noticed our museum back yard area, our Vice President of the Museum, Robert Rusby, with a couple of his official helpers, Roy Fluhart and John Newman, are clearing out an area next to the log cabin so that some new and exciting artifacts can be displayed including the Gobler Mountain Dairy Sign. The sign has been completely gone over at Archie’s Hardware by Joey Ramos and it looks spectacular.

The board walk in front of the Pack Station was in poor shape so John Newman and Roy Fluhart rebuilt it and now it is better than ever.

Volunteers, they are special.
