The Kern River Valley Historical Society has been in operation for over 40 years. Our mission is to preserve and communicate the rich and colorful history of this region. To achieve these goals we have established the Kern Valley Museum in downtown Kernville next to the Post Office.
Message from the Pres

Summer is in full swing. It is already August. There is a lot of water in the lake...

and the river looks like the Kern River should look, moving along swiftly. As a result, our visitors to the Kern River Valley are back and we get more visitors to our museum.

It’s our docents that make it all work for us and our visitors. Our docents are ready and busy showing all of our treasures from the Kern River Valley. I must say, that as a result of visiting us, people from elsewhere kind of wish that they lived here. You can see it in their faces.

Thank you docents! But I ask you to please help sell our raffle tickets. This is an important fundraiser for our museum and those tickets are hardly selling. We are running out of time. The raffle ends next month, September 4th, Labor Day.

The prizes are great! So do your best, I know you will.
