The Kern River Valley Historical Society has been in operation for over 40 years. Our mission is to preserve and communicate the rich and colorful history of this region. To achieve these goals we have established the Kern Valley Museum in downtown Kernville next to the Post Office.

Curator’s Corner

A huge task is almost completed...

We are just about completely out of the Walker House. All of the books, art, paper ephemera, and artifacts are now safely stored in the annex.

There are some items that either have no historical significance to the Valley or are simply too big to house in the annex (like furniture). There are also items that were culled from the Curator’s Closet recently.

We are hoping to hold an estate sale at the Walker House in late October or early November. We will advertise in the local papers and will also post information at the museum.

We did not have a date in time for this Saddlebag. We hope you’ll come. There will be lots of fun items for purchase.
