The Kern River Valley Historical Society has been in operation for over 40 years. Our mission is to preserve and communicate the rich and colorful history of this region. To achieve these goals we have established the Kern Valley Museum in downtown Kernville next to the Post Office.

Education Seminar

Our next education seminar ought to be a lot of fun!...

I guarantee that you will be glad to be alive in this era of modern medicine. Our own curator, Dianna Anderson, will be teaching us about the history of medicine. To illustrate her points, she will be bringing some of her medical antiques! Her collection includes apothecary items (the precursor to our pharmacy), surgical instruments, quack devices and other fun stuff.

She will try to focus on the era of old Kernville, but will touch on a few things that led up to that time as well as some of the modern miracles of today. Her collection is extensive, so you never know what she’ll come up with!

The seminar will take place at the annex at 60 Big Blue Road on Saturday, November 18th. It begins at 10 a.m.

We hope to see you there!

—Erie Johnson
