The Kern River Valley Historical Society is celebrating over 50 years of operation! Our mission is to preserve and communicate the rich and colorful history of this region. The Kern Valley Museum in downtown Kernville, next to the Post Office, welcomes visitors to explore our rich history.

great spring programs, from Woody Guthrie, Kern County’s Olympians, history of the Tejon Tribe, Buffalo Bill Cody, and the Plague in Kern County. Lots of interesting subjects.

The Buena Vista Museum of Natural History and Science is having a lecture on Saturday, Feb. 10, at 10:30 a.m. called “Sea Birds of Sharktooth Hill” by historian and researcher John R. Stegall. There is a charge; adults are $8, and seniors are $6.

The Maturango Museum will have art works by Tina Dille, “Ravens: Myths and Legends” through March 6.

And check the Kern County Historical Society website for great lectures and events for the spring. They are even going to the Rankin Ranch for a weekend in May.

And the Levan Institute for Lifelong Learning, Bakersfield College has wonderful classes on many subjects. An exciting one will be the Bakersfield Sound Tour on March 10. Check it out on their website:
