What's Happening

Merry Christmas

The Kern River Valley History Society wishes you a

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Get the Saddlebag Newsletter mailed or emailed to you every month.  Or stop by the Museum (open and heated/air conditioned Thursday through Sunday) and pick up a copy, no charge.  The Saddlebag lists all the upcoming Kern Valley Museum activities ~ like Movie Night in the summer watching original westerns filmed right here in KRV ~ or the Members' Dinner hosted by Hodel's of Bakersfield ~ and field trips car-pooling to places like Jet Propulsion Laboratory and equally fascinating venues like the Movie Museum in Lone Pine at the foot of Mount Whitney.
Perhaps most important, you get told about the upcoming SPEAKER OF THE MONTH, who is always entertaining (and there are always coffee and sweets).  You get the inside story right from the horse's mouth on what's happening in places like the Dam Construction ~ Miracle Hot Springs ~ Tubatulabal language ~ the Forest Service.
The only way to learn the "where-and-when" for so many life-boosting events the Museum offers is to read The Saddlebag, written by the same people who greet you when you visit your Kern Valley Museum.
The Museum gets the real scoop on everything important in this area.  There is no better way to be well informed than to hear a speaker who is a top expert on the subject, and to be welcome to present any questions you may have.
You do not have to be a member to pick up a copy of The Saddlebag at the Museum.  But to be sure of getting one in a timely manner, and making the Museum your home-away-from-home, membership in the Kern Valley Museum is $30 for a year.  See the "Membership" hotlink in the left-hand column for details.  You will be so glad you did!
A Happy Docent
