The Kern River Valley Historical Society is celebrating over 50 years of operation! Our mission is to preserve and communicate the rich and colorful history of this region. The Kern Valley Museum in downtown Kernville, next to the Post Office, welcomes visitors to explore our rich history.

What's Happening

Thank you, Don and Lois Chapman, for a summer full of displays, each of them amazing.  June was Disneyiana, as only former Disney employees could share.  July was Mini Oil Lamps – each delicate and charming.  August was Tractors -  who knew a small tractor display could be so entrancing?  The September display was Astronomy Stuff by Rich Burdge.  His collection included vintage items for stargazing.  Thank you, Rich, for sharing your treasures.

October will be Rod Run month.  The display case will cater to car owners by showcasing vintage auto hood ornaments and mascots.

We are now setting up the schedule of exhibits for 2020. Six months are already spoken for, but January is still open.  If you have a collection to share - please contact Linda Thurm asap at 760-417-2881.
