The Kern River Valley Historical Society is celebrating over 50 years of operation! Our mission is to preserve and communicate the rich and colorful history of this region. The Kern Valley Museum in downtown Kernville, next to the Post Office, welcomes visitors to explore our rich history.

What's Happening

On Thursday, May 17, the Grand Lodge of California of the Masons will honor our Annex with a wonderful cornerstone (plaque) and time capsule.

Dignitaries from all over California, including the Grand Master, will be here. This is an once-in-alifetime event. This is exciting, quite an honor, and you are invited.

The timeline for this ceremony is as follows:

10:00 a.m.: Ceremony for the Masons only at the Masonic Lodge

11:00 a.m.: Ceremony at the Masonic Lodge is open to the public

11:30 a.m.: Lunch will be served to the public at the Masonic Lodge

12:15- 12:45 p.m.: We will move to the Annex

1:00 p.m.: Cornerstone presentation begins.

There will be chairs set up in front of the Annex Because of the luncheon, we will need to know how many are coming for lunch. You will need to make your reservation by Monday, May 7, at the latest. Call Tom McKinney
