What's Happening

May 24 at 10:30 a.m. at the annex. Usually viewed as a movement of men, mostly young and single, the gold rush also brought women to California. In her presentation, historian Ann Wiederrecht will explore the experiences of and the contributions of women to this exciting period in the state’s history. Ann taught history parttime for many years while living in Santa Barbara County.

Since moving to Kern County, she taught 12 years as a part-time instructor of Cerro Coso Community College and then became a professor at Bakersfield College, where she taught for more than 15 years before her retirement in December 2017. Mark your calendars.
