The Kern River Valley Historical Society is celebrating over 50 years of operation! Our mission is to preserve and communicate the rich and colorful history of this region. The Kern Valley Museum in downtown Kernville, next to the Post Office, welcomes visitors to explore our rich history.

What's Happening

Our education class will be October 25. In recognition of National Native American Month in November.

We’re very excited to offer a fascinating education class at the end of October. Dr. Allen Garfinkle-Gold will tentatively be presenting a class about the Tubatulabal weather bundle.

We have a few more details to iron out, but we’re fairly certain that they will fall into place. This important artifact has great spiritual significance to the Tubatulabal tribe, so we want to show it the proper respect.

Before the presentation, you will be able to view the weather bundle at the museum. Then you will go the annex at 3:00 p.m. for the actual presentation.

After the presentation, Dr. Gold has extended an invitation to have dinner and continue the discussion.

We are very excited to learn more about the weather bundle and, in the process, learn more about our Tubatulabal neighbors.
