The Kern River Valley Historical Society is celebrating over 50 years of operation! Our mission is to preserve and communicate the rich and colorful history of this region. The Kern Valley Museum in downtown Kernville, next to the Post Office, welcomes visitors to explore our rich history.

What's Happening

Pride Day is scheduled for Saturday, September 15. Sign-in for this event will take place in the parking lot of the Kernville Chamber of Commerce starting at 7:00 a.m. Pick-up starts at 8:00 a.m.

You will be supplied with colored vests so cars can see you, pick-up sticks and plastic bags. Place small items in the bags. Large items (tree limbs, tires, large cardboard) should be placed along-side of the road for pick-up.

This is a good time for Society members, their friends and family members to help us clean up the Kern River Valley. After the clean-up, workers are invited to a barbeque at the French Gulch Group Campground near the Nuui Cunni Cultural Center.
