The Kern River Valley Historical Society is celebrating over 50 years of operation! Our mission is to preserve and communicate the rich and colorful history of this region. The Kern Valley Museum in downtown Kernville, next to the Post Office, welcomes visitors to explore our rich history.

What's Happening

How long has it been since you have looked at our books?...

We have quite a variety of things on our shelves, and if you haven’t checked them out, you should!

We have several different cookbooks, one of which is our own put out by the members of the Historical Society. Some mighty tasty recipes in there!

We also have a whole series on the Pioneer Women. Then we have books on birds, several different animals and, of course, wildflowers! This is on one side of the gift shop; if you stop as you come in the front door, you will find several local authors represented there!

So next time you come in, take a moment to read the titles and maybe you will even buy a new book!
