The Kern River Valley Historical Society is celebrating over 50 years of operation! Our mission is to preserve and communicate the rich and colorful history of this region. The Kern Valley Museum in downtown Kernville, next to the Post Office, welcomes visitors to explore our rich history.

What's Happening

Tam Hartman and I have begun production on the next episode of Wild West Country,...

our documentary project about Kern Valley history, based on Bob Powers’ books.

We want to compile a list of people interested in volunteering to help with everything from transcribing interviews, to researching, shooting tests and photographing reenactments and special effects shots using “green screen” techniques.

If interested, please contact Chuck Barbee: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., or Tam Hartman: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., and let us know what part of this may interest you, from researching to reenacting and everything in between.

It is going to be a fascinating and fun time recreating and breathing life into Old Kernville and Old Isabella.
